visible to the upper left, and just over the buildings below - great market on Saturdays.
Taste of Tasmania is in the big wharf building on the left - in December if I recall correctly

Eruptive Ash Layer by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Blue Lake - Mt Gambier - South Australia by ted Brattstrom
Here's all the stuff that got blasted out of the pit that formed... It is fairly steep sided, with a more gentle outside face. (though still fairly steep)

Lava / Basalt Layer by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Blue Lake - Mt Gambier - South Australia by ted Brattstrom
The first stage of the eruption was a mild extrusion of lava covering the surface, making a nice cap to it.

Limestone Layer by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Blue Lake - Mt Gambier - South Australia by ted Brattstrom
This is the old land surface, and is contiguous with the land surface outside of the volcano. It is the basic substrate of this part of South Australia.

The narrowest part of the Coorong by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Parnka Point, Coorong, South Australia by ted Brattstrom
This area had a ferry that moved people back and forth. Currently, you need to bring your own boat, and the boat ramp is around off to the left side of the image. I believe these pilings are the remains of the far side wharf.

I don't think there are oysters there, but that's not what they eat anyway

Glacially deposited Boulders by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Hallett Cove, South Australia by ted Brattstrom
Most of the large rocks along the shoreline are glacial deposits, and not simple erosion features

Crater 8 by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Henbury Meteorite Craters by ted Brattstrom
A nice crater - because the central area is compacted, it can hold the water a bit more, so trees can grow

The South Rift - Kilauea by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Kilauea Caldera by ted Brattstrom
The South Rift Zone of Kilauea starts here as a small crack where lava has emerged from, and as you go farther south, it becomes the "Great Crack". 10 to 20 meters deep 1 to 15 meters across.
Mauna Iki sits on top of it, a low shield 8 km down rift.0 comments

"14 ton rock" - 1924 eruption by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Kilauea Caldera by ted Brattstrom
This is the "14 ton rock" that was blasted out of Halema'uma'u during the 1924 phreatomagmatic eruption.
Alas, it landed on a photographer, who died of the injury.0 comments

1982 summit eruption flow by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Kilauea Caldera by ted Brattstrom
In 1982, just before the current east rift zone eruption, there was a summit eruption that yielded this pahoehoe flow.
The Crater Rim Drive (currently closed in this area due to "vog") crosses here.
If you are there in person, you can see the edge of the flow is much higher than the middle, it had filled up (inflated) and then drained out at the end, into the lower section of the caldera.0 comments

"Old" Halema'uma'u overlook and webcams by ted Brattstrom from the GigaPan Kilauea Caldera by ted Brattstrom
People used to be able to walk here to have a great look into Halema'uma'u. USGS has set up cameras (looking down into the eruption locality - at night, check the webcam!) and ash collectors nearby.
