    Description:

    This screw mechanism is the only thing that supports the weight of the entire stack of bricks; every ten minutes or so the stack was dropped by one turn of the thread.

    This more recent tunnel kiln cement works was located just next door, but was definitely "off limits" to us - it's run by the Military.

    Description:

    To unload a cargo of sand all they do is pump water into the hold turning the sand into a slurry which is then pumped ashore, forming a heap; excess water then drains back naturally into the river.
