It looks like a dragonfly, but in fact it's a helicopter that has just picked up a bag of water to empty onto the flames.

There are still small patches of snow on the north-facing slopes of the mountains.
A neighbor's evaporative cooler is still in wrapped in winter mode. The temperature this morning was just a few degrees above freezing.

A fire burns in the early morning in one of the northern canyons of the Sandia Mountains. A severe drought has set the stage for more fires.

There is a great wheelchair accessible path around this area of the lava field. I had two of my boys run ahead and wait on the path.
