THe problem was that I did not focus on any of the books to get that part of the image in good focus so that the sign above it is in focus and all below a bit out of focus also I shouldh have set the aperture to f11 or as high as possible to enable greater focus in depth

These are used books in a book shop called Left Bank Books in St Louis. BY taking a gigapan image of the shelf one can then later browse the collection and later order the books or go back and make a purchase. This is a handy way to use this technology when one doesn't have a lot of time to review all the titles of a book collection. It would also be an interesting way to make an inventory of one's own home library and the image then could be brought into an html document and image map hyperlinks could be created so that by clicking on the book one would be taken to the personal book review or notes taken out of the book
