  1. Walker General Store

Walker General Store by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Snow in Walker California by John Toeppen

It is more than 30 miles to another town and store. Places like this can be a welcome sight. Gas stations can be nice to find as well. This is what it looks like if you head out of town a few miles:

  2. Stereo GigaPan Camera

Stereo GigaPan Camera by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Snow in Walker California by John Toeppen

This my first version of a motorized stereo GigaPan rig. The button pusher is not being used and the cameras are a bit far apart for close work. There will be future changes, but this was made quickly and is the first field test of this unit.

  3. Connected!

Connected! by John Toeppen from the GigaPan kocani II MACEDONIA by Zoran Efremov

    Dishes are everywhere!

It is a pleasure to see such a fine large image of a place so distant from my home that has been well captured by a person of similar spirit. The world is now connected and cultural isolation is becoming a thing of the past. People are of a similar nature and GigaPan reveals this in great detail.

    Nice work!

  6. Oak

Oak by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Summer Pond at Morgan Territory by John Toeppen

Young oaks are all over this basin. This is becuse a friend of mine and I planted acorns that we found under the one large valley oak. Even on this slope many have grown despite the grazing, grasses, and ground squirrels. This one is more than five years old, but at least it has survived and will like continue to do so.
Dozens of new oaks dot the hills here due to our planting. Almost all of the trails that we have hiked in our region now have new oaks. Nature actually needs our help, and this does make a difference. See how many new oaks that you can find.

  7. Ground Squirrel

Ground Squirrel by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Summer Pond at Morgan Territory by John Toeppen

Coyote food. Usually one of these will stand watch anc let out a regular "all clear" chirp every five seconds or so. If that one stops chirping they all hide. It is not uncommon for that one to climb up on a fencepost for a better view. Red tail hawks, golden eagles, and falcons are often seen here by both squirrels and people.

  8. Valley Oak

Valley Oak by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Morgan Territory by John Toeppen

Valley oaks are one of my favorites. The big one down by the pond is one of these. This one is probably about ten years old and is the only one that came up within this fenced enclosure. I probably threw four or five acorns into this fenced area.

I am sure that the painters thought that no one would notice their drips! This is a very nice observatory ( I am only joking about the paint). We get to notice due to the unaticipated power of GigaPan!

  16. Choices Everywhere

Choices Everywhere by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Everything-can-be-found Store! by Payam Rahmani

This is a great panorama of a shop with many choices. I have become very skeptical about red, white and blue elephants speaking for myself... Some folks are easily tricked by outward appearences, symbols, and words.

The world has repeatedly suffered from self serving dictators that have claimed to be doing the “work of God”. Using fear, superstition, and tradition as a cloak for their evil deeds they harshly treat those who do not subscribe to their dogmas.

We are all just people and each of us have our own opinions regarding how the world should be run.

America’s first flag pictured a snake with the words “Don’t tread on me”. This spirit was not one of aggression, but one of warning. Many of us greatly respect the freedoms of others in hopes that others will also respect our freedoms. Your people are living in a time where your freedoms are not respected by your own government. Americans were fortunate enough to be able to change our Government. Most of us here hoped that you would be able to secure your freedoms in a similar way.

But now you have men who believe or pretend that they speak for God. These men speak for themselves.. God speaks for himself and men speak for themselves. If such men seek to kill those that do not believe them, then they are only seeking to defend their powers, and their selfish desire to be treated as Gods. This arrogance and vanity seem like the ultimate sin to me – the impersonation of God. But then, I am just another American with the belief that I would rather strike back than be killed. This is easy for me to say because I don’t have to do this. My family left Prussia when Kaiser Wilhelm was coming into power. Perhaps the real choice is to fight or to flee. Good luck with your difficult choices. May the forces of benevolence and creation be with you in these trying times.

Personal Path by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Azadi Square by Payam Rahmani

The Bahá'í Faith offers an open door to those that arrive from any direction. There are more paths than we could imagine. We must each choose our own way.

We wish for you what we wish for our loved ones - the freedom to choose. Best wishes from California.

  18. Rocky Ridge

Rocky Ridge by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Del Valle View RIGHT image by John Toeppen

This trail is a steep climb up about 1500 feet. The views are great from this ridge, as one can overlook Pleasanton, Livermore, and Mount Diablo.

The ridge behind this is a bit higher, but one has to go down 1,000 feet to go up another 1,500 feet. This takes a while.

  24. Desert Paint

Desert Paint by John Toeppen from the GigaPan Excavation or impact? by FOREST HUNTER

This black skin on the surface is called desrt paint and takes thousands of years to develop. There is no clear sign of mechanical or explosive work. Volcanic origins and weathering are the most likely explaination.

Please place this in Google Earth and we could tell more from that. If it were an impact crater one would do well to drag a magnet around our use a metal detector. Many of us pay big buck for pieces of the sky!
