    One form of Ajil is these nuts in-shell that guests will eat and, with decades of practice, shell with their mouths, without the aid of their hands at all- no kidding- just emitting from their lips the empty shells. Several nuts at a time! The seeds can be sunflower seeds and many others types, mixed in with pistachios and dry chick peas.

    Pistachios are to Iranians like Snow is to Eskimos. They are a deep part of our culture. There are many varieties, many drying and salting methods, and they all taste absolutely fabulous- nothing like the little packages one buys in US supermarkets.

    Tavazo means scale- and this store is probably the most famous nut and dried goods store in Tehran. Dried nuts are incredibly important in Iranian culture. When someone comes over, you provide hot tea, and you provide either a salty or sweet mixture of nuts, including dried figs, almonds, walnuts, pistachioes and many other ingredients. The sweet version also has raisins. It is delicious.

    South Dakota interior design students are visiting Wounded Knee and other sites of memorial in this area and will then take on the exercise of designing a space for memorial and reflection for this area. Although the structure will not be actually funded and bilt, it is a wonderful design exercise.

    This tree is a favorite of the elephants. We tasted it too- full of water in the leaves and quite delicious- a bit sour like a lemon. I have forgotten its name, but eating it was quite enjoyable.
