The 'middle' lava by Kyle House from the GigaPan Intracanyon lava flows at Rinehart Cliffs, Owyhee River, OR by Kyle House
Could this possibly be the oldest of the three obvious lava units here? Note that it is clearly overlain by the upper lava, but the strat relation with the lower lava is not obvious. Possible that the lower unit is inset.

this lies below a very steep and tall cliff. would've sounded awesome...as do rocks thrown from the edge when they hit it.

baked sediments by Kyle House from the GigaPan Intracanyon lava flows at Rinehart Cliffs, Owyhee River, OR by Kyle House
Rounded gravel evident here. Colluvium dominates to left. Colluvium hosts cooked carbonate soil. Note contact and pinchout to right.

Contact between lavas. Cobbles mainly vesicular basalt. Likely from immediately underlying lava flow surface.

Clarks Butte Lava Remnant by Kyle House from the GigaPan Jackson Hole and Intracanyon Lava, Owyhee River, OR by Kyle House
The remnant we missed on at least 5 river trips. Looks just like the Miocene basalt when viewed from upstream. Obviously a younger lava when viewed from downstream. Lesson: turn around every now and then and see where you've been.

This sequence of volcaniclastic, fluviolacustrine sediments pinches out to the left (south) and thickens considerably to the right (north). It is sandwiched between massive and restistant blobs of rhyolite lava flows. Yes rhyolite lava flows.
