Drips and Runs by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Clear Creek Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
More examples of drips and runs that could have been largely removed at the time of injection. Generally, a thin veneer of PUR is left on the rock surface, similar to a thin varnish. This material quickly weathers off due to UV degradation (and is harmless to the environment).

PUR Injection Site by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Clear Creek Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
Amber PUR drips and runs hardened on the rock face following injection. No cleanup effort was undertaken, illustrating the potential for an unaesthetic finish. Passing motorist cannot see this PUR overrun; however, pedestrians can observe the injection sites from the pull-off across the roadway.

General Condition by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Poudre Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
From this perspective, its impossible to tell PUR was ever injected within the rock face. Virtually all of the abutment and portal area shown in the photo was treated to a depth of 10-12 ft. In contrast, the remnants of the bolting project are clearly visible.

PU Foaming Product by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Poudre Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
A polyurethane foaming product was used to temporarily seal the bottom of this large vertical fracture to hold the PUR product long enough for rapid setup during injection. Originally a light tan color, this product has since weathered to a dark brown due to UV attack.

PUR Drips by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Poudre Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
A few more weathered PUR drips can be seen emanating from this previously thought to be fully grouted rock bolt installation. Several of the bolts produced PUR during injection, indicating partial or incomplete grouting of these tensioned fixtures at the time of installation.

PUR Drips by Daniel Gerlick from the GigaPan Poudre Canyon PUR by Daniel Gerlick
A few drips of PUR can be seen on the lighter colored rock. Originally amber in appearance, due to UV degradation the PUR has weathered to a dark brown.
