Mississippian carbonates of the Rockies by Callan Bentley from the GigaPan Pine Butte, Montana by Callan Bentley
Riding along thrust faults, these much older rocks (~300 Ma) have climbed up on top of the younger Cretaceous rocks (~100 Ma) seen in the foreground.

Contact! by Callan Bentley from the GigaPan Contact between Tensleep Formation & Goose Egg Formation, east of Shell, Wyoming by Callan Bentley
The Permian-Triassic Goose Egg Formation (orangey tan) overlies the Pennsylvanian Tensleep Formation (purple) in a roadcut west of Shell, Wyoming. The contact, originally horizontal, dips to the west, presumably due to Laramide deformation associated with the Bighorn uplift.
