    Taken by: Callan Bentley

Image: Catoctin Metabasalt at Point of Rocks Maryland
    Image Owner: Chris Johnson

    Description:

The Catoctin greenstone's foliation (itself a product of metamorphism and deformation) is here seen to be kinked, meaning post-metamorphic deformation either under a lower temperature/pressure regime...

  4. Vein tip

    Snapshot Title: Vein tip
    Taken by: Callan Bentley

Image: Catoctin Metabasalt at Point of Rocks Maryland
    Image Owner: Chris Johnson

    Description:

Astonishing variation in thickness over such a short distance - think of how flexible the greenstone would have to be to rip in this particular way.
