  10. Submerged glacial cirque

Submerged glacial cirque by SW_Alaska_Network from the GigaPan McArthur Pass Weather Station 2012 by SW_Alaska_Network

Glacial cirques formed during the last glacial maximum (aka the last ice age, approximately 20,000 years ago). The Kenai Fjords coast is an example of a mountain range submerged by a combination of tectonic subsidence and isostatic seal level rise after the last ice age. Since the 1964 9.2 magnitude earthquake many parts of southcentral Alaska are experiencing uplift, at rates of a few millimeters up to a centimeter per year - a rate which is faster than sea level rise.
