Caught between the Table View and Milnerton suburbs is the Rietvlei Wetland Area, one of the last (if not the last) wetland in Cape Town that has not been developed. Nearby is an oil refinary adding to some of the many problems conservationist face to keep this area untouched. There are 2 bird hide outs, one located i...

Hand held Nikon Coolpix set at 260mm, 14 photos. It is tradition for people to go to the beach on 26 December. This was taken at Muizenberg Beach, False Bay side of Cape Town. Look at the long line of cars (top left) waiting to get to the beach. We traveled in the opposite direction and missed the long traffic jams...

First field attempt with a new Gigapan Epic 100 pano arm. All went well till the middle where I lost 2 minutes worth of frames - 27 in total. I have been testing the arm and the delay between frames, and thought I hda this worked out. I am using an Ultrafast memoycard to increase write speed and prevent the camera's...

A "small" panoramic view of Waterkloof taken from Fort Klapperkop, Pretoria. I used an old 35-105 Nikor zoom (used to be my standard zoom on my trusty Nikon F-801s at 105mm). Panned the camera by 5 degrees between frames and tilted by 7.5 degrees between rows. Level of pano head was not 100% accurate and this caused...

This is the 2nd pano taken at Menlyn Mall. Lens was on 55mm and required 36 photos to complete the 360 degree view. 4 rows were taken 4x36 = 144 photos. Nikon D300S set on manual exposure f8 and 60/sec. I am using a DIY pano head. The base plate is marked with 5 degree intervals and the camera is pan and tilted...

This is the first of two panoramic views taken at Menlyn Park mall Pretoria. 360x122 degrees with lens at 18mm. At 18mm I need 12 photos to complete the circle = 4 rows x 12 = 48 photos. Nikon D300s set at F8 and 60/sec. People are waiting to have their photo taken for the Springbok team supporter group photo. a Mosia...

View of Johannesburg as seen from Bedfordview to the east. Early winter morning with a lot of smoke from informal settlements and townships hanging over the city. Nikon D300s and 18-55mm set to 55mm. Manual exposure f16 and 90/sec. 29 images in one row only. The 15 degree up/down tilt on my DIY panohead was too much ...
