I Hate This by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Vulva on Nelson by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
Adolescent scrawl imo. Executed with great skill but I hate it.

Now this is interesting by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Vulva on Nelson by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
When I first saw this I instantly dismissed it as some meaningless scrawl. I still don't think I would like to have it on any street near me BUT in fact I really like it as art. You don't really see it here, but when I was standing in front of it I found myself mesmerised. Neat. Should be in a gallery imo.

Very Puzzling by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Vulva on Nelson by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
It's clear that the artist can draw from the skill shown e.g. in the painting of the skeleton skulls, but I just don't get the childish cartoon figure. I mean: why? Obviously I am becoming a reactionary old fart and it won't be long before I start wearing underpants on my head and thinking that intolerance isn't necessarily a bad thing.

'Bad' Street Art by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Church of St. John the Baptist by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
When is art not art? When it's bad art like this. Sorry if my using a gigapan snapshot to broadcast my highly subjective and ill-informed option offends you but you knew the risks when you started surfing :-)

Giant Street Art by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Church of St. John the Baptist by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
Look at how tall/high the painting on the office block is! No wonder the event that commissioned this work cost a quarter of a million pounds.

City Gate by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Church of St. John the Baptist by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
This arch is a gate in the old city wall. You can see how thick the wall/narrow the church is in my shot from the other side of the gate here: www.gigapan.com/gigapans/121753

Counter-balance Support by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
You may be wondering what this strut is for. It is to carry a 'bucket' in which I could put something heavy to force the camera swing to fall forwards. If this doesn't make any sense then you probably haven't read the description of how this device works - you can find that here: www.kilgore.org.uk/robot.html
. Real nerds wanting to see the bucket itself are in luck as it has just appeared in another gigapan: gigapan.com/gigapans/120810/snapshots/3091590 comments

Entertaining Stuff by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
This is an antique domestic manual that tells you how to do anything to do with the home. The section on home remedies for various illnesses is the best part because of the alarming nature of the recipes e.g. using liquid mercury for tootheache. Mind you, come to think of it, I am rubbish at most domestic tasks. Maybe if I imbibed more mercury I would be better at chores like dusting.

HHG by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
Ah, the Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I still remember arriving at my friend's house while he was listening to the first broadcast of the first episode of the original radio series when I was a teenager. Instead of greeting me he shushed me and I had to sit and join him in listening. We were both astonished and delighted because we had never heard anything like it before and it was funny! It was rather like the first time we saw Monty Python. Sadly we both became the irritating sort of teenagers who think it is cool to know all the lines and funny to trot them out at every concievable opportunity. I still know every line backwards.

Not Excession by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
"Excession" was the first Iain M. Banks book I read and I thought it was one of the best books I had ever read. I then went through all of his sci-fi hoping for more of the same but never found it.

I have all his Discworld books but they are not in the bookcase because they are in the place where I keep all the other books I like to re-read i.e. in a teetering pile by the side of my bed.

Really Rather Good by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
People get sucked into an electronic virtual reality constructed as a playground for the rich. I thought Volumes 1 and 3 were excellent but 2 was tedious.

Surprisingly Good by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Self-Portrait by Proxy II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
In my experience fill-in-the-nouns Lord of the Rings clones are not worth reading especially when the publisher has seen to fit to describe the book as an "epic masterpiece" on the cover. Indeed volume 1 (which I can't see here) starts badly with a young scullion/farmboy/whatever who you just know is going to turn out to be a prince/wizard/whatever. And the chief baddie lives in the mysterious, dark North at "Mount Dhum". (Not "Mount Doom" - that would be copying Tolkien.) However, the storytelling was good and not only did I read the whole trilogy, I went on to try Williams' "Otherland" books.

No, no, no. by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Widcombe Social Club II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
Call me Mr. Reactionary if you like but I really hate this type of art. Given the calibre of some of the people working on this building it wouldn't surprise me to know that the person who did this part of the mural is every bit as talented as Inky (who did the female figure). But to my eye this looks like the sort of grafitti that is furtively dawbed by talentless vandals. I don't like it, I think other people agree with me, and I think it may actually be bad.

Street Art by Inky by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661" from the GigaPan Widcombe Social Club II by The Gigapanographer Currently Known as "Kilgore661"
I am not up on who's who in the world of street art but I understand that getting Inky to decorate the building was something of a catch. I understand he is known for the 'photo-realistic' nature of his work. I'm not sure whether the woman in this shot is exactly photo-realistic, but the finish is pretty damn amazing when you consider that the artist is painting a concrete wall not canvas or paper.
