These pigs were individually decorated by local artists as a fund-raising initiative for the "Two Tunnels" sustainable transport project (http://www.twotunnels.org.uk/). They were on public display on the streets of Bath for six months in 2008 and were a great tourist attraction. You can see some of the pigs in their original locations by searching on the keyword "Bladud" and some of the snapshots have comments with links to the pig in the snapshot like this: http://www.gigap...

I am a real fan of the UK's Ordnance Survey (OS) 1:50000 maps. I own very many of them and am always delighted to have an excuse to get one out and pour over the wonderful details that one can find in them. I also do a bit of computer programming and in the Summer of 2009 I did some research to see if I could combine my love of maps with gigapans and this is the result. At that time I couldn't get permission to make the images public but a while ago OS relaxed their rules ...
For an...

An attempt at the World Record for the greatest number of gratuitous occurrences of the same person in a gigapan (140mm lens) without using Photoshop.
Many thanks to the wonderful Miss Pixie for being so patient!
Update: The bar has been raised to 22 occurrences - see http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=21255.

A fashion show held in the Assembly Rooms, Bath.
The gigapan is a collage of images taken at different exposures and apertures and it nearly worked!

This is the view from the roof of Bath Abbey.
I am amazed by this pano because I never expected it to stitch.
I was delighted to get access to the roof of the main tower of the abbey, but dismayed when I realised the parapets were too high to see over, so there was no clear view of anything, and each corner of the roof has some tall stonework so even if I could get a view from one of the sides of the tower then I wouldn't be able to take a 360° pano.
Given there was nothing else I...

The fourth of four gigapans I took along the South Bank. I love this scene for the range of architecture on display. There is nearly 1000 years of building in this shot.
I would have liked to continue my journey eastward along the Thames but didn't have the time. In any case Denmca has beaten me to it: http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=27970.
For this shot I used my Sony at maximum zoom (x15) with its £99 1.7x teleconverter giving me 80 rows by 16 columns (1280 images). There...

Seatown, Dorset at 9:30am.
I went to Seatown with my friend Igor many years ago. We camped in a field right next to the beach and a pub that did good food, and I remembered it as very pleasant spot. So when my friend - fossil-head cmlbath - told me that it was one of the best places in the country for fossils, I suggested we go there and we did. There is a companion shot taken from the beach here: http://tinyurl.com/qslfgy.
As you can see, the camp site has grown somewhat! It even has its ...

The weather for the day of this pano was supposed to "heavy rain", so it was a big surprise to find myself in a quiet field with this spectacular view and wonderful weather.
In fact, I would go so far as to say it was an uplifting experience. Later on I slipped and ended up falling completely flat into six inches of liquid mud, and my reaction was to lie there and laugh out loud.
See http://www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=10384 for an alternative view.
