In 1881 a fierce storm lashed across the east coast of Scotland causing many fatalities amongst the seafaring communities. Eyemouth lost 189 fishermen. This is a small town so it it is almost unimaginable to lose such a high percentage of the male population. You'll see the RNLI offshore lifeboat moored bottom left; a...

This is a pano showing the area where I grew up. Gourock is a small town (pop approx 12,000) on the river Clyde in the west of Scotland. It is a superb yachting venue and has tremendous views across the Argyleshire hills.

Just to the east of Edinburgh lie the Lammermuir hills. This view is from just a mile or so from the village of Gifford. The road to the left leads to Castle Park Golf Course where I am a member. Further on is my house. Driving home in summer or winter on this road is a pleasure.

This was taken from the roof of the Ocean Terminal car park and shows the western end of Leith Docks. In the background is Inchkeith Island with the lighthouse and old WW2 defences clearly illustrated. On the far shoreline if Fife, and the town of Kirkcaldy (Kir-Caw-Dee)

This is a small town about 40 miles south of Edinburgh. It is quite posh and a lot of wealthy retired folk live here. It does not have a branch of Greigs the Bakers or a large supermarket and that makes it a good place to be. On the left you see the 'Greenyards' rugby ground - Home of Melrose Rugby Union team, and the...

This is a wee harbour on the Forth, near Edinburgh. The harbour itself is in the shadow of a coal-fired power station that is not exactly the cleanest! You'll note that the stitcher hasn't been 100% accurate - I can understand with the mast of the yacht because it was moving, but why did the lamp-posts not match up?
