More from this location soon.
I was going to leave a warning of physical threats resulting from puns involving "light" and "enlightenment" until the gigapan of the ship itself, but it seems I was too slow :-)
I know nothing about maritime infrastructure but I guess a lightship could be used if a lighthouse failed, or there was a new obstruction in an unexpected place like a wreck, or as you say, if you wanted to lure a ship onto the rocks.
Re Buddhists, I have always found some of their philsophy attractive and until recently I thought that non-violence was a central belief. Then I started wondering about the monks murdering people in Burma. It turns out (or so I read on the internet so it must be true) that there are no rules about non-violence in Buddhism at all.
Maybe they see the light. That is strange though, I have never seen a ship that was a light. Lights are meant to be in fixed locations, so you can look them up on a chart and know where you are. If it was a mobile light, you could impersonate a known fixed light and cause a seafarer to go up on the rocks. I have not know Buddhists to be so nefarious.
