Topic: Special-effects Gigapans / Continuous Pan/Tilt This is something I would be interested in as well. I have a smaller camera (A sony nex) which is a bit on the small side to warrant getting the pro (which I understand has some kind of time lapse feature now). I’d love to get this feature on the 100, the ability to set a start position, an end position, and some time of total time and picture frequency. |

Topic: General Gigapanning / Viewing Gigapans on panoramic Liquid Galaxy systems Hi, I’m not a pano maker, just a keen viewer! I’m sure you are aware there is a Gigapan Photo layer in Google Earth. The Google Liquid Galaxy (LG) systems basically run multiple Google Earth instances with the view synchronised to create a wide panoramic display surface. Generally 14-16 megapixels, depending on the number and type of screens used. Up till now LG has NOT been able to sync pano images across the displays. Which is a terrible shame because Liquid Galaxy should be a fantastic technology for showing off gigapan imagery. This week I found a glitch in the pana/ge renderer switching that can be exploited to load up the hi-res imagery and then navigate around, thru, into the image in a free-form natural fashion… up to the full resolution of the gigapan! See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD8Ns9ZzrWs Pretty cool, right? What I’m hoping from this community is help to pressure the Google Earth devs to get this style of pano loading & navigation as an option for Google Earth & Liquid Galaxy. PS. a Liquid Galaxy is quite easy to build, you just need a bunch of PC’s, screens and some networking. See http://code.google.com/p/liquid-galaxy/ Cheers, Andrew |

Topic: General Gigapanning / Database for tracking panos while shooting I’m putting together a small database for me and that would on iOS devices in order to document stuff in the field. Depending on how it goes I may make it available for other GigaPan’ers to download. Wanted to get some feedback on the info that I’m currently planning to record and see if a) I’m missing anything really obvious or This is what I’m tracking right now (divided into sections)…. Gear section Panorama section The database would run on iOS only (no Blackberry, no Android, so don’t bother asking). Database would require FileMaker Go on the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to run. Anyone have any other suggestions for what might be useful? |

Topic: Upload / Upload aborted: Creating panorama failed and: check if the logfile contains a 500 error. If yes, it is a server problem, not due to the uploader or to your panorama file. Now it is working again. |

Topic: Stitch / Creative Stitching OK, so I gave it a shot. Created several strips in Stitcher, saved at TIFF files and then pulled them into Aperture. Used OnOne’s Color Efex Pro 3.0 to apply the gradient. Saved them out again and brought the strips into Stitcher and created a 1 row by 7 column panorama. Note: the gradient test is not the full width panorama and the gradient is WAY too intense. This was a test to see what would happen in the stitching process with a 1 by “x” series of images. Things I discovered… Theoretically, you could do some semi-complex masking with each of the strips. In this example I might want to apply the gradient to just the sky and not the building. Or have everything except the building black and white. You’d need a fast computer with a lot of RAM to be able to do it effectively. Could I have done this on a fully-stitched image instead of the strips? How does Stitcher handle a 1×1 image? Topic: Stitch / Creative Stitching Thought I’d ask this before spending the time trying it out… I’ve got a pano that I’ve shot and would really like to put a gradient on it. Clearly you can’t do this to all of the individual images (20×10). I was wondering if anyone had tried the following… Then apply the gradient (or other effect) to each image. Bring the modified images, now 20 × 1 into Stitcher and create the pano. Wondering what kind of effect this would have on the finished pano? Anyone tried this? |

Topic: Gigapan Mechanism / Groaning sound My Gigapan makes a groaning sound when moving from near bottom to near top (moving between columns). It doesn’t make any unusual sounds moving from shot to shot other than that. Is this normal?? |

Topic: Embedding / Embedding with snapshots Embedded gigapans can include snapshots, for example, the following code will include four snapshots: <ifram* src=“h_tp://api.gigapan.org/beta/gigapans/37421/snapshots/109628,109622,109626, 109591/options/hidetitle/iframe/flash.html?height=275” In the good old days, the snapshots would be displayed in the order they were listed in the code. Today, they are displayed in numerical order. This has introduced some chaos into my attempts to add titles and captions to the embedded snapshots here: http://conservation.townofsalisbury.org/panoram… Is there any way to force an non-numerical order of display for snapshots, or should I start to modify the caption code for all of these embedded gigapans? |

Topic: Gigapan Mechanism / Gigapan hardware bugs and feature requests Can someone from Gigapan let us know the best place to post feature requests and bug reports for the Epic hardware? I emailed someone our GP sales rep recommended at Gigapan but never got a reply. It would be nice to know that someone is out there listening to our feedback. |

Topic: Web Site and Forum / comments on new website I would add that the sort tools are broken. If I view all my gigapans, it auto-sorts by most viewed and there is no way to fix sort by say “most recent” Although note to readers, this url works to sort your gigapans by most recent (replace the “timescience” text with your user id in both locations in the URL): |
