Despite the calm waters show here, Mahood Lake can have some nasty storms. The fishing is fabulous for Rainbow trout, Lake Trout and Kokanee. This is the west end of the lake in Wells Gray Provincial Park.

Located on thee Murtle River, it drops about 60 feet in a cascade of spray. The falls is about 300 feet wide. Here it was just beginning to freeze in mid-October.

This 500 foot deep cleft was carved through the volcanic basalt layers which covered much of the interior of British Columbia. The creek flows into the Clearwater River. The west side road is visible on the opposite side.
