This is one of four stamps issued in 2004 in honor of various physists. The stamp has microprinting (to deter counterfiting) embedded on the collar of Gibbs' shirt. It is imprinted with "de = tdn - pdv" (where e is the greek epsilon and n is nu). This is the well known (to physists) Gibbs' free energy expression.

A first attempt at using a new "toy" I have--a Nikon inverted microscope. Consider this a "work in progress". The image consists of 80 stitched photomicrographs. The result certainly needs to be cleaned up, but I wanted to see what it looked like.
