This Gigapan, taken by Grace Bannon (BIObus 2011), shows Saw Mill Pond, a Cypress Swamp/Bayou, from the fishing pier. The BIObus crew set out various insect traps and did extensive freehand collecting here. A UV sheet was set up for nocturnal insects. There were lots of nocturnal Tiger Beetles at this park.

This historic Sawmill was built in the year 1863, and restored in 1955 & 2005. This 8 sided mill is powered by 4 vanes of 22.5 meter length (74 foot ) each, and drives 3 huge saw blades. Now a days the mill is operated by a group of volunteers, who run the mill as a museum (open for public on saterday and tuesday). ...
