  4. Located just outside Lake City, Colorado. Unfortunately this viewpoint was somewhat obscured by the growth of aspens. Nonetheless, I think one can make out the general dimensions of the slide and at least some of its details.

  5. Carl Berger has previously captured Silverton, Colorado from this vantage point with some beautiful fall colors (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/10449/ & www.gigapan.org/gigapans/9893/). I wanted to shoot the city but also catch some more of the beautifully braided Animas River and San Juan mountains scener...

  6. Ouray, Colorado is located at the bottom left of this GigaPan. There's also a remarkable buttress unconformity between Paleozoic sedimentary rocks and Precambrian metamorphic basement rocks exposed in the glacial cirque at the top center and right side of the image.

  7. Located between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado, the red color of the mountain is an indication of the intense hydrothermal alteration that gave rise to the mineral deposits mined in the region.
