One of the most spetacular views in a national park full of them, here one can see over two miles of vertical relief, from Badwater, near the bottom of the image, 282 feet below sea level, to Telescope Peak, in the Panamint Range, 11043 feet above sea level. The white area at the center of the GigaPan is the salt pan ...

The Gunnison River has cut down through Precambrian igneous and metamorphic rocks in western Colorado to form one of the deepest gorges in North America. This morning shot captures the famous Painted Wall, so named for the many light colored granitic dikes that appear to some as an artists brush strokes on a canvas of...

Aargh, another Rainbow Bug bites! That's two really bad Rainbow Bug stitching errors (this one and Dantes View - www.gigapan.org/gigapans/52231/) and they come on two of my most highly anticipated GigaPans. I'll forgo writing up a thorough description of this one until such time as I can get it to stitch prope...

Located just outside Lake City, Colorado. Unfortunately this viewpoint was somewhat obscured by the growth of aspens. Nonetheless, I think one can make out the general dimensions of the slide and at least some of its details.

Carl Berger has previously captured Silverton, Colorado from this vantage point with some beautiful fall colors (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/10449/ & www.gigapan.org/gigapans/9893/). I wanted to shoot the city but also catch some more of the beautifully braided Animas River and San Juan mountains scener...

Ouray, Colorado is located at the bottom left of this GigaPan. There's also a remarkable buttress unconformity between Paleozoic sedimentary rocks and Precambrian metamorphic basement rocks exposed in the glacial cirque at the top center and right side of the image.

Located between Ouray and Silverton, Colorado, the red color of the mountain is an indication of the intense hydrothermal alteration that gave rise to the mineral deposits mined in the region.

I was originally planning to keep this GigaPan clean of moving people, but once I realized the clouds weren't behaving either I decided to just let it all go.
