  1. The headframe is for an active borate mine in the Greenwater Valley adjacent to Death Valley National Park. The mountain range in the distance is the Funeral Mountains.

  2. The breathtaking view of the cliff behind my campsite is only marred by the clouds that couldn't decide if they were going to hide the sun or not. I made two aborted attempts to capture this one before I decided on an exposure setting and just let it rip. Partly cloudy days are not good for my blood pressure.
