Although the Shell refinery is more than 40 km north of here in Scotford, the main storage and distribution site is on the east side of Edmonton near the Envirofuels refinery in Sherwood Park. The ubiquitous magpies stand guard on one of the tanks.

Recently having undergone an extensive upgrade and expansion, it's one of the largest in western Canada. Most of the input and output will be for the upgrading of synthetic crude from the oilsands in Fort MacMurray.
