The second time I went to this 160,000 square foot warehouse in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, FL, I was told by a cop it'd just been bought by a developer who hadn't figured out what to do with it.
There's probably around 75-100 massive street art pieces thrown up ...-

Photographed April 15th, 2010, on my second trip back to the site. The stadium is actually pretty tricky to photograph; the architecture here makes for extremely strange distortions, and the lack of flat, 4-walled interior surfaces makes for some pretty interesting 360s.

Photographed April 21st, 2010 - The upper story of a 2-story office connected to a behemoth 160,000 sq. ft warehouse in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. This location is obviously another spot where several of the homeless population dwell-- the floor is remarkably clean (it appears to be recently swept, even) for...

Photographed April 21st, 2010-- The lower floor of a 2-story office connected to a behemoth 160,000 sq. ft warehouse in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami. The warehouse had been sold in January/February of this year, and it wasn't until recently that I went back and realized how much new construction and renovation wor...

One of the smaller images i've done in a while. Was going to take a larger image (usually this was constrained by batteries dying prematurely) but the wall got pretty seriously vandalized on my second trip on April 6, even by graffiti standards. A police raid on the paintball games that regularly occur here, as well...

Another shot from the Krome Ave Penit taken 4/6/10. After seeing how much stuff from the first trip had been painted over, i'd planned on probably going back to reshoot every few weeks. A police raid that followed removed both paint-ballers and any exuberance by both myself and local artists to enter the property again...

Taken on the second trip back to Krome Penit on 4/6/10 . A lot of the good stuff got painted over, unfortunately, but still managed to get a decent shot.
The Krome Ave Penit, as it's now known, was raided by police shortly after this trip. Apparently a lot of the kids p...-

I started to see where I was in much the same way I see a lot of other beautiful, flawed things, in that many of the same problems that condemned this place were exactly what made it that much more valuable an image demanding to be captured.
HDR, tonemapped in Photomati...-

Another shot i'm really happy I finally got after several delays and false starts kept me from actually photographing the marine stadium.
The Miami Marine Stadium was built in 1963 on Virginia Key, used throughout the 60s and 70s for powerboat races and rock concerts, e...-
