Tempe's ASU campus borders on an artificial lake created by damming the Salt River with inflatable barriers. Development on the lakefront, called Hayden Ferry Landing, has many high-rise buildings: expensive condos and office buildings. Winter rains have returned the grass to the north side of "A" Mountain.
