Another view from Glacier View turnout - nice view of Grand Teton and nearby peaks. (Ice is a rock, so us geology-types can appreciate it too!)

Along the west edge of Jenny Lake, a short hike leads to a viewpoint where the falls are just visible through the trees. The falls can be heard nearby, but are hard to see if you aren't in the little clearing.

Named for Thomas Moran, one of America's great landscape painters (www.nga.gov/feature/moran/index.shtm
), Mount Moran is also one of the most photogenic of the peaks in the Teton Range. It is also one of the most interesting geologically. The vast bulk of the mountain is Archean granitoids and gneisses, but th...-

Finally the clouds have cleared enough to get a really nice view of the range front. How many cascades can you find?

From close below the Tetons, this panorama offers a detailed look at the geology of the range front. The Teton Glacier is best seen from this angle and there are a couple of mafic dikes that cut the Archean igneous and metamorphic rocks that make up the bulk of the Teton Range. Oh yeah, a few tourists and cyclists in...

Sometimes you get a second chance to shoot a GigaPan, and this one is one of those. The one I shot the day before was cloudy and dark (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/30798/). This day the sun finally began to break through, and the clouds that were still around were actually pretty photogenic. I didn't shoot with v...

The two days that I tried to shoot the Tetons at sunrise ended up being cloudy to partly cloudy. The light was better the day I shot this one than the day before (www.gigapan.org/gigapans/30797/), but not what I was hoping for. Nonetheless, I had time to kill while the sun got to work burning off the clouds, s...

Once again it's time to break out your red/blue glasses! This was a small anaglyph GigaPan that I shot along the trail to Hidden Falls. I only carried one GigaPan robot with me so this one was shot sequentially by moving the tripod between shots. I can't for the life of me remember the name of the pond in the foregr...
