The Timberman Triathlon near Grand Rapids, Minnesota, is held in one of the most beautiful locations in the country -- Ruttger's Resort on beautiful Siseebakwet (Sugar) Lake. I was a little late setting up this panorama; just after I started, they called all the contestants down to the lake for the start. I have some s...

I'm working on strategies to capture action in a GigaPan. I took a grid of photos with a tripod-mounted Nikon D3, then went back and shot action at various points along the track. Then I patched these action shots into the scene. I couldn't resist putting several rides together -- in real life there'd only be one car o...

This is a test of a technique to capture action in low light. I used the Canon G10 to capture the scene at .25-.60 second, ISO 80, accepting the fact that I could not capture peak action. I then shot action with the Nikon D3 at ISO 1000 and patched those parts into the scene in Photoshop. The Canon fits the GigaPan but...

Another view of my friend Roz's art studio. Canon G10 with Raynox DCR-1540 tele adapter. Auto-focus, .8 sec. .exposure, 6 sec. GigaPan delay seemed excessive.

Still testing the Raynox auxiliary lens on my Canon G10, I shot this closeup in my garden. I've been impressed with the Raynox so far.

When the weather gets warm, the art students like to work outside. Now that school is out, you see the things they left behind. Canon G10 on auto focus and with the Raynox DCR-1540 tele-converter, giving an effective 35mm focal length of 219mm. Auto focus worked well but one image is completely out of focus. Oh yeah, 2...

Lake Harriet is a heavily-used urban lake in Minneapolis, part of a chain of lakes that stretches through the city to the Mississippi River. This is also a test of the Raynox DCR-1540 tele adapter. The extra weight in front of the camera makes the GigaPan Epic jerk from one position to the next. It appears, however, t...
