Grabbed during a layover, tripod was in checked luggage, so this one was shot while holding the Gigapan head while it sat on the tilted railing.

Shot near sunset, the structure rising above the trees is the old water tower. The history of the waterways stretches back centuries. Note the swan house on the little island.

Shot from the 'Panorama Terrace', managed to grab four planes taking off. Didn't have the tripod since it was packed in the luggage so had to lay the Gigapan unit on the tilted railing and hope it worked. That is why it has the strange curvature to the image. Grabbed during a layover.

- Braunschwieg Haupt Bahnhof (Main train station), Gleis 4 (track 4), Germany - West view by David Douglass
-
Looking to the West on track 4 with moments until the train arrived. The whitish train that is fragmented over on track 6 was the ICE, the high speed train, that popped into the station, loaded and zoomed off.

This bahnhof is the final stopping place before the steam engine works its way up to the top of the Brocken. Featuring a little gift shop and small restaurant as well as a ticket counter. The ticket to the top cost 16 Euro one way for an adult ticket. The bratwurst from the little stand were really good!

The Brocken is the highest point in Central Germany at a little over 1100 meters. This shot is relatively crummy but gives you the general idea of the place. Former Soviet listening post, it was walled off to the public during the cold war years but now is a popular tourist destination. Due to the micro climate the pea...

- Train departed... Brocken mountaintop Bahnhof (train station), Harz Mountains, Germany by David Douglass
-
The silly train was only stopped for a short while, not long enough to catch the engine or wait for sunshine. The Brocken is the highest point in Central Germany at 1100+ Meters elevation. The steam powered tourist train starts in the villages in the valleys below and winds its way up to the top of the mountain. Wikipe...

This steam engine carries tourists between the valley towns all the way up to the highest point in Central Germany, the Brocken mountaintop. The huffing and chuffing, the smell of the coal smoke, the whoooo whooo of the train whistle all evoke an era long in the past for railroad enthusiasts. This shot wasn't perfect s...
