Today marks the halfway point of 365 photo journey over at 365Project.org. Boy I've learned a lot. I've learned: long exposures, panoramas, landscapes, and seascapes. I've learned to love my primes, stand on 3 legs, and see with my 50mm. I can spot a killer dusk when it's still afternoon. I've gotten out and streched ...

This is a 2x5 panoramic shot of Victoria's Inner Harbour, spanning from the Undersea Gardens on the left, to the Fairmont Empress Hotel on the right. You can see the Johnson Street bridge in the centre background. This set of 10 exposures was taken with my Nikon D600 and 50mm lens. I dropped exposure compensation...

This is a 3x7 panoramic shot of Victoria's Legislature, commonly known as our "Parliament Buildings" (which are actually in Ottawa). This set of 21 exposures was taken with my Nikon D600 and 50mm lens. I wanted to capture the whole scene, but without the fountain, so I backed up as far as I could get, then captured th...

I was inspired by the amazing work I've seen this week at 365Project.org to do another panoramic photo. I noticed how still Victoria's inner harbour was last night, so I quickly setup on my deck and took a sequence of 3 long exposure shots to make this panorama. The 3 exposures were taken left to right for 15, 30, a...

I set out to do some long exposure night photography, and came across this vista. This is my first attempt at shooting the Oak Bay Marina in Victoria, and it's a multi-image panorama at that, so I expect to go back and take a second crack at this. This is a 7 image, single row panorama shot with my Nikon D600, Nikkor...

This is a 360 degree panorama of Victoria's breakwater, shot on Jan 4, 2013, just before the Harbour Authority spoiled the experience and put handrails along its length. Each of the 24 exposures making up this panoramic photo was shot in full manual, exposed for 0.8 seconds at f/16, ISO 100 on my Nikon D600 and Nikk...

I finally received my panoramic gimble tripod head, so I thought I'd try it on something familiar first. Victoria's inner harbour is always beautiful, day or night, but it gets particularly stunning during the Christmas holidays. This year in particular added all the new [faux] Christmas trees all through the harbour.....

The very first full 360 degree view of Vancouver BC. The original image is 5,396 megapixels and is made up of 676 photos taken on November 9, 2012 from the roof of Shaw Tower in Coal Harbour. Not much of the view looking down towards the city was captured because it was obstructed by the tall glass panels of Shaw Tower...
