An eruption of Mount Batur in the 60ies wiped out this whole area. Slowly, life creeps in again, and road contruction is again underway.

This is a view looking NW from near the top of Mount Bonnell in Austin Texas. The level controlled lake below is Lake Austin. Michael Dell's house is on the right side of the picture, across the lake.

This is from Mount Washington at night from an observation platform. People's steps and traffic below caused enough vibration to provide the dreamlike, impressionistic, and otherwise blurry view.

Taken shortly after sunrise on Mt Washington. Too bad this one came out a little blurry, it was my first one! For a complete trip report, go here: mitoc.mit.edu/gallery/washington_gigapan

This was taken from on top of the Cog Railway tracks on Mt Washington. Look at all the rime ice on that has accumulated on everything. The chains on the nearby building are actually for anchoring the roof down. For a complete trip report and additional pictures, go here: mitoc.mit.edu/gallery/washington_gigapan
