Boats have been made here for centuries. The industry supported by the prolific Pine forests on the island, though not much being built these days as it seems more profitable to sell drinks to the tourists. Still very atmospheric to browse around the hulls in the evening as the shadows get longer.

Dedicated to the Annunciation of the Virgin. This is the site, I believe, where the official Greek flag was first raised in 1807. Founded in 1790. There is a small museum on site which provides a real glimpse on monastic life in the 18th Century. Best viewed in Google Earth.

This is the Entrance area to the Chapel of the Monastery at Evangelistria above Skiathos Town in Greece. Founded I belive in 1760. As can be seen for such a small Church it is incredibly rich in decoration and is a beautiful and quiet location which makes understandable the desire for some to persue the monastic life. ...

Panorama of Old Harbour Skiathios and the Paralia where the Taxi race scene in Mamma Mia was filmed. Just started using new camera so exposure and AWB not locked but fun to look around the Tavernas so we will leave until revisited.
