Gigapans

  1. North of Wawa, Ontario. I like the contrast between the modern hydropower facilities and the ruins of an older generation of hydropower buildings.

  2. Although I have lots of experience as a GigaPanner, my training is as a geologist, not as a photographer. Thus this was my first experiment in long exposure times to get that dreamy look to the falling water. Zoomed out there's not a big difference, but I think it worked well when you zoom in.

  3. Located just southwest of Wawa, Ontario.

  4. Although the Shell refinery is more than 40 km north of here in Scotford, the main storage and distribution site is on the east side of Edmonton near the Envirofuels refinery in Sherwood Park. The ubiquitous magpies stand guard on one of the tanks.
