A healthy crop of canola lies in the swath awaiting some late summer sun to mature and dry it so that it can be combined. The tiny black seeds in the pods are crushed to make canola oil for the food industry. This crop is along Meadowview Drive just west of St. Albert, Alberta near Big Lake.

Most of the world's French Dijon mustard is prepared from the crop grown in southern Alberta. The three hills in the background are in Montana, the names are the East Butte, Golden Butte and West Butte. Mustard is similar to Canola (rapeseed) but is grown for it's oil, whereas mustard is grown for the condiment.

There appears to be a good harvest of grain in Alberta if the weather co-operates for the next month to speed the ripening. This year's crop was late being seeded because of the excess spring moisture and heavy snow.
