An oasis in the city, Nan Ling Gardens is a Buddhist park open to the public, providing some of the most tranquil scenes in the city. It is attached to the Chi Lin Nunnery, which has more limited hours. Both are must-sees for any stay in Hong Kong longer than a few days. It is one of my favourite spots in the world....

The monastery has been around for a long time, but the huge statue of Buddha is only about 15 years old. The scenery around the mountains changed every minute because of the constantly flowing clouds. More at www.plm.org.hk
