More than 28,000 fans came out to see the first home football game as the University of North Texas took on the University of Houston at the opening of brand-new Apogee Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2001 in Denton, Texas.This was the third-largest crowd ever to watch a home game in school history.
