Rising majestically up from the banks of the Alexandra River, the mountain reaches nearly 11,000 feet in this early morning view from the Icefields Parkway. There was considerable smoke in the air from more than 300 forest fires buring in BC, but it makes for rather subdued pastel colours.

I like the play of lush forest against the craggy cliffs. The mountains are full of such contrasts - hard/soft, wet/dry, hot/cold, and more - and maybe that is the source of their appeal.
