-
The day started out on a bad note with a crashed Mac Book Pro (graphics board), a lost-in-the-mail Christmas package; however, by three o'clock in the afternoon the package was found and the computer was fixed and returned, so to celebrate I went over to Hermann Park to take two panoramas; one of the mysterious sculp...

This train station (also known as Michigan Central Depot or MCS) was built in 1913 for the Michigan Central Railroad, and Amtrak cessed service here on January 6, 1988. It has since been subject to urban decay. Shot April 13, 2009 with a Canon 350D and a 135mm lens at F8.

-
There are many snapshots to be taken in this panorama. One of which is what appears to be a stitching error, which I emphasize that it is not. Taken about 10 minutes after the Durango-Silverton steam train pulls in. In the lower right you can see the "Sweeper Car" just coming in having collected cinders and put out fires tossed by the firebosx. (Fuji IS-1 300mm [barely fits the gigapan] stitched with Calico on the Mac) Vertical bands of differin...

I wandered around Helsinki for a few days before and after our ride on the icebreaker to the North Pole. Lost in Helsinki one fine morning, I wandered into the Helsinki Central Railway Station. where I was surprised by how few people were trying to catch a train. The station is huge, with a surprising modern look t...

The Michigan Central Depot was opened in 1913. The building was designed in the Beaux Art neoclassical style by architects Warren and Wetmore, and engineers Reed and Stern. The last train departed January 5, 1988 and the building was permanently closed. The decay began and the building has since been stripped to the b...

This is the Belle Island Pedestrian Bridge and part of the Richmond Virginia skyline. The pedestrian bridge is tucked under the Robert E. Lee Bridge, which is the span of Route 1 over the James River. It is surrounded by interesting things to see, like trains, the piling of the old Robert E. Lee Bridge and river ro...
