Sandhill cranes feeding in a cornfield just south of the Platte River, just east of Fort Kearney, Nebraska. Cranes are nervous birds and hard to approach. Since I didn't have a blind, I did my best to get up on a old railroad grade and used the tele-converter lens on my Canon S5-IS. I'll have to try getting up there...

One of our first gigapan images. Allowed the camera to determine focus, locked exposure, edited color and noise in post using Photoshop CS3. Sky and ground are blown out as a result of exposure lock, still working on technique to get finer exposure control with the small camera we're using. Thanks for viewing!
