Southwest of Jasper, Alberta. While I was setting up the camera, a very large iceberg calved off the Cavell Glacier and slid into the lake creating a massive wave about 15 feet high which broke the frozen surface and washed on the shore. Despite the dangers around, many tourists still venture close to the glacier...

Highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, 12,972' (3954m) in this evening shot. Composed of 40 shots at full zoom through a Panasonic FZ50 (420mm efl) Mount Robson is one of the most difficult climbs in North America with only 10% of the attempts being successful. www.bivouac.com/MtnPg.asp?MtnId=2

The early morning sun has been up just over an hour and bathes the surrounding peaks with a warm glow. The shoulder of the mountain is reflected in a small pond beside the road. In the background is Crowfoot Mountain and glacier adjacent to Bow Lake. The same area just 3 weeks ago I encountered a grizzly and her two...

I took this one reasonably early in the morning hoping to catch the reflection however I hadn't appreciated the problem with the dynamic range between the light sky/mountains and the shadows and mist on the water. I also screwed up a the focus a bit as I think you will be able to see on a couple of images. Patricia L...

The hike up to the lookout from the lake is a bit over 5 kilometers (about 3.5 miles) and had about 8" of snow by the time I reached the top - would have been easi...

The snow is gone, the grass is beginning to show some green, the ice is off Lake Beauvert and some golfers are anxiously waiting to start swinging. :-))

Aeons ago, a gigantic rockfall off the face of Mount Sirdar in the background tumbled down to block the water outflowing from the Maligne River. The water now percolates underground for about 1-2 km then re-emerges from under the rockfall.

On the far shore is the elegant Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Mountains in the background are the Colin Range and the Queen Elizabeth Range over near the Maligne Lake area. Had a bit of trouble with dying batteries, and tried to swap a new pack after they were drained near the right side of the panorama. In doing so...
