  1. Dahlia (family Asteraceae) grow well in the San Francisco area. The flowers come in many forms and range in size from 2 to 10 inches in diameter. They also come in many colors. The plant is named for Andreas Dahl, a Swedish botanist.

  3. Flora, for the botanists out there... Autofocus and full auto exposure on the camera, violating all the rules of good GigaPanning. This is what passes as an "artistic" shot for me.

  4. My second attempt at GigaPan. I took a similar photo to my first attempt (Field House Garden), but changed the focus and exposure settings (i.e. I did not have them locked the first time...oops!). The lighting is a bit more consistent this time. This is the backyard garden at our field house in Barranca, Peru.

  5. This is the garden at the Barringer's, located in the Poconos near the Ashokan reservoir. Very pretty area. This is the largest gigapan I've taken - 548 images. The focus was on nearby objects, so the house and further away trees tend to be a little fuzzy at high zoom.
