Rising majestically up from the banks of the Alexandra River, the mountain reaches nearly 11,000 feet in this early morning view from the Icefields Parkway. There was considerable smoke in the air from more than 300 forest fires buring in BC, but it makes for rather subdued pastel colours.

This past winter has been a very good year for snow in Western Canada with record or near-record falls. This shows the late April snows on Mount Athabasca in the Columbia Icefields. More is likely, in fact it gets snow in every month of the year.
