Bow Lake at the summit of the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park. Less than 500 meters from where I was standing, there was a momma grizzly and her two cubs out for a morning stroll through the meadows. To get a shot like this you MUST be here early in the morning...preferably before 7AM

Bow Lake is the headwaters of the Bow River which supplies much of the water for southern Alberta including the city of Calgary. Needless to say, the water is pure and clean having been born in the glaciers just behind Crowfoot Mountain. On the right side is Simpson's Num Ti Ja lodge.

Rafting on the bow river is a popular activity on hot summer weekends. This was also the weekend of the folk festival, the music could be clearly heard from my vantage point.
