The George C. Page Museum at the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. Basically a lake made out of tar. Animals thinking it was water would get stuck in the tar and never come out. Hundreds of wolves were recovered from the black goo.

This is the view from the Getty Museum in the Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking the west side of Los Angeles. It was a mostly clear, windy day, but the clouds to the east (rain?) limited visibility a bit. The furthest point along the coastline is Redondo Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes -- almost to Long Beach.

This is #1 of two GigaPan images I made last weekend inside the gallery. Made up of 192 (NikonP5100) shots it took quite awhile to stitch togethor (hours longer than I expected). The 180degree view is from the front window and shows the variety of images and sizes available. The John Post Gallery has been open for 1...

235 pics, 6x zoom with 2x telephoto converter = 12x zoom, f8, ISO200, 1/200 shutter, UV filter. I should have stepped down to ISO 100! I think this is about as much detail as I am going to be able to squeeze out of my Canon A700 There was a lot of overlap on the pics, I set the field of view to 3.9 degrees on...
