  6. When groundwater seeps into the salt beds it dissolves and recrystallizes the salt into large pure crystals.

  7. Prior to blasting the salt, a machine cuts a slot at the base of the salt bed.

  8. This section of the mine was completed in December 2004 in preparation for the opening of the museum exhibits. The miners signed their handiwork.
