  4. One of the most famous of localities that demonstrates right lateral offset (of the Wallace Creek streambed, in this case) across the San Andreas Fault.

  5. Just southeast of Pinnacles National Monument and just west of San Benito, CA the San Andreas fault crosses the Airline Highway. See if you can find (the) fault in this GigaPan.

  6. A group of near-vertical fault planes. Offset here is probably related to the Basin and Range faulting in the region.

  7. This was intended to be a panorama showing the Heart Mountain Detachment surface. I was hoping the clouds would clear away. Instead, they soon filled the view.

  8. Probably a Basin & Range normal fault, you can see its trace distinctly where the orange Tertiary lacustrine sediments with hoodoos but up abrubtly against dark basalt.

  9. The vitrophyre is the black, obsidian-like band at the left of the roadcut. There are also an interesting pair of faults near the center of the image. I had hoped to catch this roadcut a bit earlier in the day, but I only got here a little later than I wanted to. Nevertheless, the lighting wasn't as bad as I had f...
