Although this rare fungus (Ascomycetes) got a larger substrate range, it prefers Willow thickets like Salix viminalis and others growing on swampy places. Here it grows on Salix cinerea, Belsakerweier near Hellange, Luxembourg. The site can be seen here: www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=24456

In such Salix cinerea bushes one can find many rare fungi on dead and decayed branches. The fungi are almost too small for this panorama size. A few macros from this site can be seen here: www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=24401 www.gigapan.org/viewGigapan.php?id=24402 www.gigapan.org/viewGigap...

This is an unusual site of Phragmites australis (communis) with Orbilia septispora on decaying culms and leaves. The Orbilia-fruitbodies (Ascomycetes, Orbiliomycetes) are not visible here because of their minute apothecia (only 0,2-0,5mm in diameter). A map of the site is added on the lower right side.
