/ for former Coal Mines in East Germany. This is one single excavator unit called Gemini, type 1022 A2s 2240 built from VEB Förderanlagen Köthen in 1958.
The unit is 30m by 125m with a weight of 1980tons. 6-8 drivers were required to keep it running.

Located near the Sir James Open Pit this exposure is now somewhat weathered, but if you look closely you can see the outlines of some spectacular pillow lavas, evidence that there lavas were extruded on the seafloor before being incorporated into the Superior Craton.
