120217 - Costa Rica, Area de Conservacion (ACG), Rincon de la Vieja, 1,400 m

The rise from Pailas to the end of the forest is very gradual and it was a long hike up from 7:40-9:10. The traps are out from 9:30-2:30. There were many of the shiny black Pheidole here - and a pretty cool Geometridae caterpillar. It never rained or even clouded over today - and Orosi and Cacao were almost exposed on the way home. Today's ite is slightly downhill from what was sampled on Nov 23 2011.
