Las Fiestas
Para los puertorriqueños es la celebración que da fin a la temporada navideña. Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián es un festival que se celebra el tercer fin de semana de enero, desde jueves a domingo en la ciudad capital de Puerto Rico, San Juan. Cabe mencionar que en estos cuatros días de festejo la mayor concentración de gente es en la calle San Sebastián. Como parte de las actividades, los vecinos adornan las calles y los balcones de sus casas.
El inicio de esta festividad es marcado por una misa en honor al mártir San Sebastián, el día jueves. A partir del viernes se realizan una serie de actividades en las que se incluye: desfile de la Comparsa de los Cabezudos con música en vivo, líderes de la Iglesia y del gobierno y la comunidad en general. El sábado y el domingo se realizan bailes típicos y varias agrupaciones musicales despliegan su talento. Durante todo el fin de semana se disfruta de artesanías (hamacas, dulces típicos, camisas), bailes y canciones, comidas y bebidas para toda la familia. En horas de la noche, el ambiente es más juvenil.

Historia
Historiadores aseguran que el festival data desde el siglo 19, sin embargo se conoce que en 1954 el padre Juan Manuel Madrazo fue el gestor de la idea para recaudar fondos con el fin de restaurar la Calle y ayudar a la parroquia. A los pocos años, padre Madrazo fue movido a otra parroquia fuera de San Juan, lo que provoco que las Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián dejaran de celebrarse. No fue hasta mediados de la década de 1970, cuando Doña Rafaela Balladares de Brito se hace cargo de la festividad, pero esta vez para recaudar fondos para el Colegio de Párvulos de San Juan.

Comparsa de los Cabezudos
Parte de las actividades del Festival es un desfile de la tradicional Comparsa de los Cabezudos, en donde se representan personajes típicos de Puerto Rico. Los mismos incluyen: Doña Fela, el General, Diplo Toribio y la puerca de Juan Bobo. Este desfile llega hasta la Catedral de San Juan Bautista ubicada en la calle del Cristo.

Artesanías
Artesanos y artistas jóvenes de toda la isla se dan cita para participar de esta masiva festividad. Las artesanías incluyen camisas, joyería, vasijas de higuera, coco y barro, machetes, herraduras y sillas para montar, muebles, hamacas, máscaras, talla de santos, dulces y bebidas típicas tradicionales.

The Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián

For Puerto Ricans is the celebration that ends the Christmas season. Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián is a festival that is held the third weekend of January, from Thursday to Sunday in the capital city of Puerto Rico, San Juan. Note that in these four days of celebration the largest concentration of people is on Calle San Sebastian. As part of the activities, residents decorate the streets and balconies of their homes.
The beginning of this festival is marked by a Mass in honor of the martyr St. Sebastian, on Thursday. From Friday is conducting a series of activities which include: Parade Krewe of Cabezudos with live music, church leaders and the government and the community at large. On Saturday and Sunday dances are performed and various musical groups display their talent. Throughout the weekend enjoy handicrafts (hammocks, sweets, shirts), dances and songs, food and beverages for the whole family. In the evening, the atmosphere is more youthful.

History
Historians say the festival dates from the 19th century, however it is known that in 1954 Juan Manuel Madrazo's father was the manager of the idea to raise funds to restore the street and help the parish. A few years later, father Madrazo was moved to another parish out of San Juan, which causes the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián stop celebrating. It was not until mid 1970, when Doña Rafaela Balladares de Brito took charge of the festival, but this time to raise funds for the College of Early Childhood of Saint John.

Krewe of Cabezudos
Some of the activities of the festival is a parade of the Krewe of traditional Heads, where they represent typical characters of Puerto Rico. These include: Doña Fela, General, Diplo sow Toribio and Juan Bobo. The parade comes to the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista in Calle del Cristo.

Crafts
Young artists and artisans on the island come together to participate in this massive festival. The crafts include shirts, jewelry, pottery fig, coconut and mud, machetes, and saddle shoes, furniture, hammocks, masks, carving saints, traditional sweets and drinks.
