This image was taken on December 17 during the anual Brooks Bird Club Christmas Bird Count. Over 40,000 crows convene nightly along the Ohio River between Wheeling Island and Bridgeport, OH. They begin the evening about 1 hour before dark gathering on the hills north and west of Bridgeport. As twilight moves in the crows fly down the hill by the thousands and roost in the sycamores along the river. Large groups of crows (500-1000) sporadically move between trees along the river until finally settling in for the night. This image was captured in the parking area under 7 North in Bridgeport OH.
I have added this to the Nearby Nature because i believe it fits most of the guidelines, but it was taken a day before the Gigablitz began.
